and the School of Theology at St Mary's University

Saturday 2nd December 2023

Seated Expectant Virgin Mary (1430-1440), National Gallery Prague*

We hope that you will join us at St Mary’s University on 2nd December, the eve of Advent, for a one-day conference to explore the significance of the Mother of God in images, words and music.

Our guest speakers are Dr. Darrelyn Gunzburg, who teaches Cultural Astronomy and Astrology run by the Sophia Centre at The University of Wales Trinity Saint David; the Rev’d Canon Dr. Paul Williams, who is Domestic Chaplain to HM The King and Rector of Sandringham Group of Churches; Professor Jacob Phillips, who is Dean of the Faculty of Education, Theology, and the Arts at St Mary’s University; and Professor Emeritus Fr. Richard Price, who taught the History of Christianity at Heythrop College, London. The event will conclude with a performance of Marian music by Dom Peter Burns, Cherry-Willow Pauls and Members of the Ealing Abbey Schola.

If you cannot attend in person, there is the option to register for the Zoom link and watch live or on “catch up”. However, please note that only the academic papers (and not the music recital) will be available online.
